In the simplest form: when the bar tender gets high, the DJ gets high and when the DJ gets High, the dance floor gets high...
The Story :
One night in 1987, the bar tender have a song request, this time he requested Alan Tam's song 愛情陷阱 (Love Trap) I just turned the mood into fast song and then chopped it in and I mixed it out in a good way (nowadays they call harmonic mixing). The energy of the dance floor boosted up! He loved it and when I ordered my favorite Whisky-coke, he gave me his special treat, that was 80% Whisky and 20% coke! :)
The bar tender's name was Henry (he has kind of Malaysian accent), if I remember correctly, he was the guy who helped people (I was student in high school at that time) to record tapes in a booth inside a department store near 陳光記 (Chan Kong Kei roast duck) and 佳佳餐廳 (Kei Kei Restaurant) in the early 1980's.
Moreover, one night before business hour, Henry passed by and say hi, I was changing the stylus of the turntables, he came to the DJ booth to ask if anything he can help, I said I'm ok and I need to calibrate the tonearm a bit.
He came in the DJ booth and explained what need to be checked besides calibrating the tonearm. While he explain he turned many knobs and he took the whole tonearm out of the turntable which scared me. He continued to explain calmly while putting the tonearm back and calibrated the turntable for me.
I was scared but everything went fine that night. He knew what he was doing!
I met Henry a few times in the 2000's, he was working as waiter in Portas do Sol (restaurant in Hotel Lisboa).
