Before the days I could borrow the 4-tracker tape recorder, the highlighted part in this picture were the only gears I could put my hands on to learn and edit mixes :
Pioneer Disco Robo (with pitch control and echo effect) as cassette tape player ;
1 belt-driven turntable with 0.5 cm diameter circular shape pitch control ;
1 broken mixer ;
1 home grade Akai double deck cassette recorder.
These gears were all borrowed from family and friends because all my $ used up to buy vinyls. :)
I could recall how I made the intro:
"Hey Hey" sound edit 4 times with volume stepping down at 8,6,4,2.
"Guy" sound edit 4 times with volume stepping up at 2,4,6,8.
I deliberately use Cantonese tracks in my mixes to show that's my work and style.
This edit was inspired by my mentor's mix - Peterson 4-track 1985 Medley. After listening to his medley, I thought I should try to do something like that even without the necessary gears.
This edit mix was later included in my Artimix 1 4-track medley.
